FOUNDER STORY

In tennis, a let gives you another chance to play the point. For Winnie, it became a reminder to keep going.

She fell in love with tennis at the age of 10, finding in the court a place of peace, purpose, and belonging.

At 24, she lost her father to cancer—a loss that profoundly reshaped her perspective on life, purpose, and resilience. Years later, a serious car accident forced her to step away from the sport she loved and begin the long process of rebuilding, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally through a series of life-altering challenges.

Yet even during the seasons she spent away from the game, her connection to tennis never faded. She held onto the belief that one day she would return.

That journey taught her that not every victory is measured by a scoreboard. Sometimes the greatest win is finding the courage to begin again.

Over time, she found her way back to the court, competing in ITF Masters events and training in both Europe and Canada, including at the Justine Henin Academy. Along the way, she remained closely connected to the tennis community—first as a volunteer with Tennis BC at junior and young adult events, including the iconic Stanley Park Open and Davis Cup, and later through an appreciation for the people and communities whose dedication continues to shape the game.

It was through these experiences that ALET was born—a brand rooted in the belief that tennis is about more than performance. It is about perseverance, resilience, recovery, and another chance to begin again.

All of this led to ALET.

ALET began where a deep connection to tennis met a belief that every setback holds the opportunity for a new beginning.

Built for the long game, each piece reflects a mindful approach where thoughtful design, quality Canadian craftsmanship, and intentional movement come together with purpose.

Drawing from her background in healthcare, years of entrepreneurship, and a lifelong appreciation for sport, Winnie founded ALET with the belief that what we wear should reflect not only how we perform, but how we move through life. Inspired by the discipline of tennis, the beauty of graceful movement first discovered through Chinese dance as a child, and the lessons found in resilience, ALET was created to offer a more elevated perspective on tennis apparel.

A self-proclaimed fabric enthusiast, Winnie approaches every detail with care and precision, guided by inspiration, authenticity, and a commitment to creating pieces designed to stand the test of time.

Today, ALET is for those who move with purpose on and off the court. For those embracing the journey, pursuing growth, and finding the courage to begin again.

ALET was shaped by her story. Now it continues through yours.
